Story Guide

Episode 1

Seraya wakes up somewhere impossible: not the hospital where she was being revived, but a living underwater kingdom. Before she can process it, hostile merfolk sneer at her lack of glowing earfins and noble blood. The little prince, Morris, won't stop crying, so the Sea King has allowed commoners to try soothing him.

Seraya hears something strange — a small voice complaining about a needle stuck in its back. A system activates in her head: she can now hear the inner thoughts of merfolk cubs under three. She realizes Morris isn't hungry at all. He's in agony. When she moves to help him, the guards threaten to behead her for touching the royal child.

Episode 2

Talen, the Sea King, demands one reason not to kill Seraya. She points out the needle already lodged in Morris's scales — waiting for permission would only drive it deeper. She pulls it out, and the cub clings to her.

Nyla, the head maid, immediately spins it as a setup: the needle supposedly came from a swaddling pin with Nyla's own name on it. She calls it a coincidence. Then Morris starts crying again, and Seraya notices something else — the Sea King's battle robe reeks of sea beast repelling grass, which cuts into a young cub's sharp sense of smell. Talen gives her one day and a thousand gold coins to prove herself.

Episode 3

The royal nursery insists on feeding Morris golden scale seaweed, a sacred delicacy. Seraya refuses. The cub's inner voice complains that the sweet egg makes his tummy fight, and she sees the bloating and rashes everyone has ignored for months.

Nyla and the court call it picky eating, claiming black shark cubs must endure this for forty-two days. Seraya runs a simple test — one drop of seaweed, one drop of deep sea goat's milk on Morris's forearm. The rash blooms instantly. It's a food allergy, which is why every healing spell has failed. Talen declares her trial officially begun, and the hundred-day tide ceremony is only three days away.

Episode 4

Morris won't sleep. The royal protocol says to increase the dose of sleep-inducing seaweed powder, but Seraya refuses to drug a ten-month-old. She realizes the real problem: every night he's locked in alone, and every time he opens his eyes, everyone he knows is gone. He's terrified of being abandoned.

She asks Talen to stay with him. The Sea King protests that he has border battle reports to handle. Seraya pushes back — if he backs out tonight, Morris may never trust him again. She suggests a simple routine: thirty minutes to prove he'll come back, and a bedtime story.

Episode 5

Seraya is put in full charge of Morris's hundred-day tide ceremony. Nyla objects, but the queen tells her to prove thirty years of service can surpass Seraya's single day.

That night, Talen reads a battle report aloud as a bedtime story — troop numbers, supply lines, the crimson blood trench. It knocks Morris right out. The cub's inner voice murmurs that the report is boring and sleepy, but what really matters is that his big brother showed up when he was scared. Seraya also notices the sun lamp in the nursery — hot, ugly, and clearly bothering the cub. She's already planning changes for the ceremony.

Episode 6

The ceremony begins with every clan watching. Nyla warns that if anything goes wrong, Seraya won't live to see tomorrow. Seraya's only goal is getting Morris through it safely.

She orders the sun lamp taken down, but the court calls it sacred tradition — every black shark heir has bathed in the sun coral's blessing. Seraya counters that just being near it made Morris's stomach cramp. Then comes the fire pearl, a relic the prince must touch to prove his divine power. Seraya insists the tray be moved; Morris is ten months old and shoves everything into his mouth. The court refuses.

Episode 7

Morris grabs the fire pearl. It's shiny, and to a cub, it looks like food. He puts it in his mouth and chokes.

Seraya screams for him to spit it out. The witch doctor is called, but Morris isn't breathing. There's no heartbeat. Talen demands they save him — he doesn't want a diagnosis, he wants his brother alive. Nyla seizes the moment and blames Seraya outright: the low-born mongrel killed the prince. The ceremony has turned into a nightmare, and Seraya is standing at the center of it.

If you've ever wanted a fantasy where a modern woman talks back to a whole underwater court, this one's worth pressing play on tonight.
