It Wears Your Face

Dr. Laura Samuels researches a shapeshifting alien, Chimera, until her boss force-mutates it and it slaughters the crew. Rescued by ex-fiance Rooker's corporate squad, she finds Chimera now wears anyone's face, using hallucinations and stolen bodies to infiltrate, impregnate, and pick off survivors. As paranoia fractures the team, Laura and Rooker find its salt weakness, destroy the station, and flee together, only for the final shot to reveal an eye blinking open aboard their own ship.

Story Guide

Episode 1

Dr. Laura Samuels took one last research contract so she and her fiancé could finally afford to marry. Instead, the relationship ended before it began, and three months stretched into two years on an underwater station above planet V1-7017.

Down in the ocean, the corporation found something: a creature her boss, Dr. Zerts, calls the Chimera. It can mutate into anything, but it won't hold a shape. Laura suspects the corporation wants a weapon. Zerts tells her nothing.

Then she catches him injecting the creature with something of his own creation "to help it evolve." She warns him. He doesn't care. Something has clearly gone wrong.

Episode 2

Laura warns that whatever Dr. Zerts injected could endanger the entire station. His answer is cold: two years with no results, so it's time for action, and she should sit down and shut up.

The creature is angry now, and Zerts calls that proof it's working. Laura points out they can't control it yet. He waves her off—it's inside a dome of zirconium glass, nothing gets out, they're perfectly safe.

The glass doesn't hold. Something breaks loose, and the station is suddenly in danger.

Episode 3

The readings are impossible: tens of thousands of mutations in only minutes, from a single injection. Zerts insists it can't be real—until he sees it for himself.

Then the blame starts flying. He accuses Laura of sabotaging his work and ruining his career, and the confrontation turns physical. She cries out that he's hurting her, and he makes a threat that sounds less like anger than a promise.

The creature is changing faster than anyone can track, and the one person who might understand it is now more interested in revenge than answers. The station's real danger may not be the monster alone.

Episode 4

Laura needs to know exactly what Dr. Zerts injected into the Chimera, but every file is encrypted and every access attempt is denied. She's locked out of her own research.

Worse, the system seems to be learning—adapting against her as she tries to dig. The creature isn't the only thing evolving.

An emergency crew meeting is called. The team gathers with a major problem on the table and no clear answer. Whatever Zerts did, the evidence is buried, and the clock is already running. Someone in that room knows more than they're saying.

Episode 5

The Chimera has escaped its containment dome, and the room turns on Dr. Zerts. He sped up its mutation cycle—but someone points out the crew pushed for this too.

Then the accusations get darker. One voice suggests Zerts let the creature out on purpose, clearing the board so he could take the credit and leave everyone else with nothing. He denies it, but nobody looks convinced.

The mutation count keeps climbing—hundreds of thousands in under a minute. Then a sound comes from the vent. It's inside the walls now.

Episode 6

The noise is deafening, and the Chimera is already roughly two hundred times its original mass. A hull breach is imminent in sector seven, junction four. If it breaks through, the station floods and everyone dies before they can blink.

Laura's answer is blunt: they kill it first. Fire—every living thing fears fire. Someone has to crawl into the vents to junction four and torch it.

She asks who's going. The reply is just as blunt: who's crawling into a two-foot pipe with a monster that's grown two hundred times since breakfast?

Episode 7

One volunteer steps forward—the only one who knows the duct system junction by junction, access panel by access panel. More importantly, the only one small enough to fit. The promise is simple: kill that thing.

The crawl begins. Twenty meters in, still no visuals. Then a heat signature registers ten meters down junction four. The crew confirms the position, but the spotter still can't see anything.

The warning comes fast: it's right on top of you. In a pipe barely wide enough to move, there's nowhere to run and almost no time to react.

Episode 8

A shape finally appears in the vent—then the volunteer is gone. It got her. The order comes to close all vents and pressurize junction 47.

But the timing is questioned. The system purges—straight into the reactor core. For a moment it looks like the creature is finished. Then it's back. Nothing should survive that heat, and nothing should move that fast.

It's already heading for hydroponics, toward the plant samples. Whatever the team thought they knew about the Chimera's limits, it's rewriting them with every second.

Episode 9

Hydroponics is locked. Nobody admits to locking it. Laura pushes forward anyway, and then the horror lands: the Chimera is somehow forcing the plant samples to mutate too. It's enormous now.

There's no fighting it here. The call goes out to blow the emergency corridor and get to the evac shuttle.

But the escape route is compromised—the door was locked from the inside. Someone let it in. With the station coming apart and a traitor possibly among them, trust is suddenly as dangerous as the creature.

Episode 10

The sensor grid comes up empty—three sweeps, nothing. Past grid twelve is the outer hull, and beyond that only an ocean of liquid ammonia. It looks like the Chimera slipped out through a waste purge line, compressing itself the way it did in hydroponics.

Laura isn't convinced. Nothing living lasts three minutes in that sea, but she wants three more sweeps before anyone calls it handled.

Then the grid lights up: it's on the other side of the station. The plan is to grab Dr. Zerts from sick bay and reach the evac shuttle. But Laura refuses to leave yet—there's something they have to do first.

If you like survival thrillers where the monster might be wearing a familiar face, this one's worth a binge—just maybe not alone in the dark.

FAQ

What is It Wears Your Face about?

It follows Dr. Laura Samuels, a scientist stationed on an underwater facility above planet V1-7017, who is studying a shapeshifting creature called the Chimera. Her boss, Dr. Zerts, injects the creature with an experimental formula to speed its evolution despite her warnings. The Chimera escapes containment, begins killing the crew, and adapts faster than anyone can track, leaving Laura and the survivors fighting to destroy it before the station is lost.

Who are the main characters in It Wears Your Face?

The main characters are Dr. Laura Samuels, the protagonist and a scientist studying the Chimera; Dr. Zerts, her boss and the story's antagonist; Rooker, listed as her ex-fiancé and a rescuer; and the Chimera itself, a shapeshifting alien that can mutate into anything.

What is the Chimera and what can it do?

The Chimera is a creature the corporation discovered in the ocean beneath the station. It can mutate into anything but won't hold a shape. After Dr. Zerts injects it with a formula meant to help it evolve, it begins mutating at extreme speed—tens of thousands of mutations in minutes, then hundreds of thousands in under a minute—and grows to roughly two hundred times its original mass. It also forces plant samples in hydroponics to mutate.

Why does Dr. Zerts inject the Chimera?

Dr. Zerts injects the Chimera with something of his own creation 'to help it evolve.' When Laura warns him it could endanger the station, he dismisses her, saying two years with no results means it's time for action. He treats the creature's anger as proof the injection is working.

How does the Chimera escape containment?

Dr. Zerts insists the creature is safely inside a dome of zirconium glass and that nothing can get out. The glass doesn't hold, something breaks loose, and the station is suddenly in danger. Later, the Chimera is confirmed to have escaped its containment dome and is moving through the station's walls and vents.

Is there a traitor among the crew in It Wears Your Face?

It's left unresolved. One voice suggests Dr. Zerts let the creature out on purpose to take the credit, which he denies, though nobody looks convinced. Later, the escape route is found compromised—the door was locked from the inside—suggesting someone let the creature in, but the show does not confirm who.
