Story Guide
Episode 1
Verona's nightmare begins in an off-campus apartment. Tied up by the window downstairs, she's forced to listen all night while her boyfriend Brennan sleeps with her high school bully, Talia. Their tangled shadows on the glass become an agony she can't escape.
Then the truth cuts deeper. Verona realizes Brennan knew exactly who Talia was—the girl who tormented her for three years, the reason she needed doctors and medication. Brennan was the one who pulled her out of her darkest place, and now he's in bed with the enemy.
When Talia notices someone outside, Verona tries desperately to break free of her bindings and escape.
Episode 2
Brennan tries to leave, but Talia hooks her arms around his neck and kisses him. She taunts him about Verona waiting outside, but Brennan's answer is cold: he tells Talia not to compare herself to Verona, that Verona is the one he truly loves. He leaves anyway, and Talia hurls a pillow at the door in fury.
Outside, Verona waits in the freezing wind. Talia appears wearing Brennan's jacket, her neck covered in hickeys. When Brennan calls, Talia snatches the phone and ends the call. She grabs Verona's hood and yanks the drawstrings tight. Verona can't breathe. The phone rings a third time—and connects on its own.
Episode 3
Brennan's voice comes through the phone, cheerful and unaware, telling her he brought her favorite bagel and coffee. Verona forces herself to stay silent, hiding her tears. Talia waves a cross necklace in her face as a warning.
After Talia releases her, Verona pulls herself together, takes an Uber back to campus, and changes into pajamas. She meets Brennan downstairs. He's in just a thin hoodie, claiming he left his jacket at the gym. He hands her breakfast and runs off. Verona throws the food in the trash, watches him go, then makes a call about studying abroad—she agrees and asks for the paperwork to be handled.
Episode 4
Verona watches Brennan meet Talia at the corner. Talia throws herself into his arms, kissing his cheek. She asks if he rented the apartment—he paid a full year's rent. Verona remembers Brennan once asked her to live together, but she refused. Now he has a new roommate.
In the cafeteria, Talia loudly brags about Brennan renting her a suite and giving her a necklace worth over ten thousand dollars. Verona recognizes it—she'd seen it in Brennan's shopping cart, meant for his mom. Another lie.
When Verona tries to leave for the restroom, Talia and two others block her. Pinned to the ground, Talia threatens her: break up with Brennan, or she'll stomp her head in.
Episode 5
Verona fights back with words, asking why she should listen to Talia just because she slept with him for free, and how long Brennan would ever take someone like Talia seriously. The insult sends Talia into a rage. She lunges, punching and kicking, screaming vile insults about Verona's mother.
Brennan's voice calls from outside. Talia claims she slipped and fell. He lets her talk him into leaving. Verona leans against the bathroom wall, listening to the dripping faucet.
That night, Brennan doesn't show up. Then a video call comes from Talia. Brennan is cooking in the kitchen. Talia pans the camera around their apartment, then calls him over to say hi to her mom. Brennan leans in and kisses Talia. The person on the call isn't Talia's mother—it's Verona.
Episode 6
Talia ends the call just before Brennan can see Verona's face. Verona grips her phone until her knuckles go white. Brennan once greeted her mother with the same words, the same kiss. She doesn't know if he still loves her at all.
The next morning, Brennan brings breakfast again. Verona wears a mask to hide her injuries, claiming allergies. When he tries to kiss her, she pulls away. His eyes darken. They rarely fight, but when they do, it's always about sex—Brennan thinks she doesn't love him enough.
Back at the dorm, Kevin Hale is sharing a video. Brennan's eyes lock onto the screen. A crying girl in her underwear, raising her hands to block the camera. Brennan asks who it is. Kevin thinks it was Verona. Brennan bolts out the door.
Episode 7
Brennan confronts Verona with the video. She goes numb. Talia filmed it back in high school after stripping her naked. Verona already suspected it would surface. What she didn't expect was Brennan bringing it to her.
Brennan tells her that someone said he slept with her, and begs her to say it isn't her and he'll believe her. His words come out scrambled. Verona takes a breath and nods. She admits it was her.
Brennan furiously sweeps everything off her desk. He grabs her shoulders, veins bulging, face crimson, demanding to know why she did this. But inside, Verona feels nothing. She tells him they should break up.
