Daddy's Back in Action
For 15 years, Vaughn Mercer hid his identity as the Syndicate Group leader and lived as a scrap-yard owner. When his daughter is attacked, he comes out of hiding, takes down her enemies, and destroys the sect he once ruled.
Story Guide
Episode 1
Vaughn Mercer has spent fifteen years as a scrap-yard owner, keeping his head down and his past buried. That peace shatters when thugs storm his yard, demanding he clear out the junk and get lost — they claim the land has caught the eye of a powerful official. Vaughn doesn't flinch. He coolly orders them to pick up every bottle they knocked over and put it back.
The thugs threaten to rough him up, boasting that even the governor would kneel before them. Then the governor, Chen Xiangru, arrives — and bows low to Vaughn. The bullies freeze. The scrap man they tried to bully is someone far bigger than they ever imagined.

Episode 2
The thugs are dragged off and punished, and Vaughn's old subordinate Qi Ye steps forward with a request: return to the Longmen Group and lead it again. Vaughn refuses flatly. He says he's done with that world — his daughter has grown up, and all he wants is a quiet life with her.
Qi Ye warns him the group has changed, now a criminal gang under Yang Jingtian. Vaughn still won't budge, but he quietly tells Qi Ye to check on his daughter and keep her safe.
At home, Qin Xinran brushes off her father's concern, annoyed by his nagging. She heads out for a classmate's birthday party — and the night starts sliding toward danger.

Episode 3
At the party, Zhao keeps pushing Xinran to drink. She says she feels dizzy and wants to go home, but he won't let her leave, insisting it's his birthday and she owes him one more glass. When her friend Xiaodie tries to help, Zhao snaps at her to get lost.
Xinran tries to call her father to pick her up, but Zhao turns ugly — mocking her, grabbing her, refusing to let her go anywhere. The room full of guests just keeps partying while he corners her. She's trapped, and no one is stepping in.

Episode 4
Xiaodie manages to slip away and call Vaughn, telling him exactly where they are. She hurries back to Xinran, who insists she's fine — but Xiaodie has already alerted her father, and he's on his way.
Zhao changes tactics, putting on a fake apology. He promises that if Xinran drinks one last glass, he'll let her go home, swearing his word is good across all of Jiangcheng. It's a lie. The moment she hesitates, his temper flares again.
Xiaodie becomes a target too. The trap is closing around both of them, and Vaughn still hasn't arrived.
Episode 5
Vaughn bursts in and finds his daughter barely holding on. He confronts Zhao — was it you who forced my daughter to drink? Zhao sneers back, boasting that his father Zhao Danian is the richest man in Jiangcheng, and threatening that anyone who touches him is dead.
Vaughn doesn't care about the name or the money. He attacks, and Zhao's men are stunned by how brutally the "old scrap man" fights.
Xinran is burning up — she's been drugged. Vaughn scoops her up to rush her to a hospital. Behind them, Zhao seethes, refusing to let it go: no woman he's set his eyes on gets away.
Episode 6
Xiaodie explains that Zhao was their college classmate, and they thought it was just a birthday party — they never imagined he'd drug Xinran. She's terrified the Zhao family will retaliate, warning Vaughn that the Zhaos are powerful in Jiangcheng.
Vaughn waves it off — to him, the Zhao family is nothing.
Meanwhile, Chen Xiangru orders his people to watch over Xinran, now that they know she's Vaughn's daughter. And an invitation arrives: the Zhao Group's twentieth-anniversary celebration. Qi Ye asks whether the Zhaos have crossed Vaughn — and offers to handle them at once.
Episode 7
Xinran wakes and immediately scolds her father for being so reckless. She warns him that hitting Zhao will bring revenge, and that the Zhao family is one they can't afford to provoke. She begs him to apologize if they come looking for trouble.
Vaughn agrees to let it go — as long as they leave him alone. When she marvels at how fiercely he fought, he hints he once ran with dangerous people, though she doesn't believe him.
Privately, Chen Xiangru and Qi Ye discuss the Zhaos' arrogance, and orders go out to investigate the family. Vaughn steps out to buy Xinran her favorite wontons — and returns to an empty room.
Episode 8
At the hospital, Vaughn finds his daughter's bed empty. The nurse has no idea where she went. Somewhere else, men warn each other not to go up — but the situation has already spiraled.
Xinran has been taken to a house, and Zhao is there waiting. He taunts her: you've been brought to my home, so what do you think I'm going to do? She screams for them to let her go, but the men only laugh, arguing over who gets to go first.
The cruelty is casual and terrifying. Xinran is at their mercy, and the men mock any hope of rescue.
Episode 9
The kidnappers call Vaughn, using his daughter as bait. Zhao's side gloats: you're so tough, come save your daughter. This is what happens when you cross the Zhao family.
Vaughn's answer is ice cold. He gives them two choices — release his daughter and he'll let them die quickly, or he'll come find them himself, and their whole family dies.
They mock him, pretending to be scared, daring him to come. Zhao's men bicker impatiently, one insisting he hasn't touched her yet. Xinran pleads to be freed, but they tell her that even if her father shows up, he's only walking into his own grave.
Episode 10
The Zhao family makes its point clear: this is the price of opposing them. When a terrified witness stumbles into the wrong place, the thugs don't hesitate — they drag her back and make sure she'll never talk.
Zhao decides to handle things personally, barking orders to catch the girl who ran. The witness begs for her life, promising to stay silent, but her word means nothing to them. The threat is cold and final — a warning meant to silence anyone who crosses the Zhaos.
The Zhaos have crossed a line they can't uncross. Vaughn's daughter is still in their hands, and the clock is running out.
