Story Guide

Episode 1

Layla thought she'd buried her past—until her husband's promotion party puts her face to face with the mafia boss she escaped five years ago. Vincent proudly introduces his boss, Revis, and Layla's blood runs cold. Revis is the man who once owned her, the nightmare she fled.

He corners her with quiet menace, reminding her that the moment she saved him on that island, she became his. Layla insists their contract is over. But Revis only smiles at the news that she's married, calling it a surprise.

Her secret is now standing in the same room as her husband. If Vincent learns the truth, everything Layla built disappears.

Vincent gushes about marrying Layla four years ago, calling it the luckiest day of his life. Revis's face darkens at the word "luck."

Layla warns Vincent that Revis never hands out promotions for free—his new title is bait. Vincent laughs it off, refusing to quit. Later, Layla tracks Vincent down and finds herself alone with Revis again. He promises he didn't bring her there to hurt her, but to show her the truth.

Episode 3

What Layla sees next shatters her. Vincent isn't working late—he's tangled up with his secretary, Camille. Revis watches her crumble, asking if this man was really worth running from him.

Layla accuses Revis of setting a trap, but he tells her to listen to what her perfect husband actually says. Vincent admits Camille excites him more, that four years of marriage have grown dull, and that he only stays married because divorce would make him look bad. Without him, he sneers, who else would want her?

Revis pulls Layla close as she cries, calling her his angel. Her marriage is over—but now she's standing exactly where he wanted her.

Episode 4

Layla hits Revis for pushing her into this, and he doesn't flinch. He tells her what he feels for her even God couldn't deny. She fires back that it isn't love—it's possession. She sold her soul to save her mother, and she's paid for it ever since.

At home, Vincent and Camille strut around like they own the place, ordering Layla to cook and clean while they "work" in the study. Vincent calls his late nights a sacrifice for her. Then Layla finds a pair of panties in his things and holds them up.

Vincent's excuses collapse. When he tells her to be grateful and learn to live with it, Layla says the words he never expected: she wants a divorce.

Episode 5

Camille jumps in, claiming the panties are hers, daring Layla to blame her instead. Vincent tells Layla to stop making a scene. When she reveals she followed him, he turns it around—accusing her of stalking her own husband, calling her controlling.

Camille lectures her about marriage, and Vincent finally drops the mask: men need excitement, he has options, and if Layla wants to stay his wife, she'll accept it. He orders her to hand-wash the panties with his suit and keep his things spotless.

Layla looks at the man she married and says it plainly—marrying him was the worst mistake of her life. She's done.

Episode 6

Vincent refuses to take her seriously, throwing her mother's illness in her face: sick, with nowhere to go, who else would take care of them both? He demands an apology and gives her one last chance. Layla refuses.

Then a sharp pain hits her stomach—she doubles over. Vincent assumes she'll crawl back. Instead, word reaches Revis that Layla has left Vincent's house. "A runaway angel can't outrun her devil."

Alone and hurting, Layla is cornered by thugs who say someone paid them to "make a movie" with her. She fights, then screams Revis's name. He appears and catches her.

Episode 7

Revis's men make short work of the attackers, who realize too late that they were sent to die against the Hale family. Revis carries Layla to safety and tells her she's safe now.

She notices he's hurt and moves to tend his wound—then freezes when he points out the truth: she was terrified, and she called for him. Not anyone else. Him. Layla deflects, insisting their contract ended years ago, but Revis asks why her hands are shaking.

She admits it: because he scares her. He says good—at least she still feels something. When she says she doesn't love him, he asks her to teach him how to stop loving her. If he can't have her love, he'll take her hate.

Episode 8

Vincent arrives at Revis's place, and Layla panics, afraid of being seen. Revis coldly points out that Vincent cheated—why does she still care what he thinks? He lets Vincent in anyway.

Vincent, oblivious, mutters to himself that Layla is boring and couldn't possibly be in the boss's bed. He's there for a shipment update, but Revis shocks him: Vincent is being put in charge of the entire North American operation. Vincent thanks him profusely.

Once he's gone, Revis turns to Layla with a smirk, revealing the knife twist—Vincent only got promoted because of her.

Episode 9

Revis orders Vincent out, warning him to keep his eyes off Revis's woman. Once they're alone, Revis asks Layla why she still wants Vincent back after everything.

Layla sees straight through him—she accuses Revis of orchestrating all of it. She'll divorce Vincent, she says, but she won't trade one cage for another. Revis murmurs that he wants those beautiful eyes to see no one but him.

Then Layla's phone rings. A voice tells her that her husband and his secretary have tied up her mother and are dragging her toward a walk-in freezer. Layla's blood runs cold.

Episode 10

Layla confronts Vincent, horrified that he'd target her own mother—his family too. Vincent blames her: one affair, and she demands a divorce that could cost him everything on the day he got promoted. Layla's mother fires back that she never should have trusted him, and that Layla learned her disrespect from somewhere.

Vincent threatens to let the freezer teach them both some manners. Terrified for her mother, Layla breaks—she agrees to drop the divorce if he lets her mother go. Vincent's response is colder still: get on your knees and clean his shoes until they shine. Layla's mother begs her not to kneel. Then Revis's voice cuts in: no one makes her kneel.

Watch His Caged Angel to see whether Layla finally breaks free—or whether Revis's grip tightens for good.
