In Love, Out of Sync
Sync pilot David is framed by his wife Yara's old flame Marcus and stripped of his rank. Rejected by Yara, he divorces her and takes a one-way mission to destroy the alien Mothership. Yara uncovers the truth too late. David survives a heroic detonation, but their final Sync reads 0%. As Yara begs for another chance, David finds a 99% match with gifted pilot Kate, defeats Marcus, and chooses a new partner and a new life.
Story Guide
Episode 1
David has given five years to a marriage that runs on a scoreboard. He's a Sync pilot, Yara is his gunner, and their Sync hits 99% — but all she wants is 100% and a bigger kill count. He quietly modifies her guns to sharpen her aim; she barely looks up.
When he refuses to charge the Mothership unprepared, her contempt hardens. We also learn what holds him there: a promise to her father, Harry, that David would marry Yara and keep her safe. That vow is the only thing chaining him to a woman who treats him like a pet — and who, behind his back, calls him a husband who will never stand up for himself.

Episode 2
A record night — 99% Sync and Yara's kill count above every other team — should belong to David too, but she thanks the aliens before she thanks him. Then Marcus walks in: her old flame, now a pilot, and a man Harry warns David to keep away from Yara at all costs.
Marcus slides straight into the gap, needling that David must be holding her back, and Yara leaves with him for a drink despite an early mission. David stays behind, prepping her gear alone, hoping he can still trust her. She comes back drunk. When he tries to get her to rest, she orders him out — then calls Marcus's name.

Episode 3
Hungover and still furious, Yara flies a mission she's in no shape for. She can't get a lock, blames David for every missed shot, and when civilians — kids — are in danger, she'd rather protect her record than save them. The rescue goes wrong.
Afterward, Marcus seizes the moment. He tells the commander that David endangered the team to play hero and wrecked Yara's perfect score. David is benched until he can fix his Sync. He stays silent about Yara's drinking to shield her — a kindness she never registers.
Episode 4
The commander tests Yara's Sync with Marcus and gets 98% — close enough. She's ordered back into the sky with him that same night. David races to resync with her, but finds Marcus already in the jet carrying Yara's modifications.
When David tries to stop the launch, Marcus spins it as an attack, and Yara takes his side. She accuses David of controlling everything: who she flies with, how she fights. She insists she and Marcus share a connection. David is left on the ground watching his wife choose the man he was warned about — and the trap begins to close.
Episode 5
Mid-mission, Yara starts to waver. Alone with Marcus, she admits maybe she was too hard on David. That flicker of doubt is dangerous — and Marcus knows it.
"I wasn't planning on using this," he murmurs, "but if Yara is still soft on David, I have to make sure there's no going back." Then the cockpit goes dark. Alarms scream, computers die, and nothing responds. The ship is going down, and Yara has no idea the man beside her is already planning to make sure there's no way back to David. The crash is coming, and someone will be blamed.
Episode 6
Yara and Marcus eject; she pulls him to safety, and he clings to her. David watches from the ground as she says she wouldn't know what to do without Marcus — words she never gave him.
Then Marcus strikes. He claims David tampered with the engines and attacked him at the hangar. Yara believes it, throwing David's broken Sync back in his face: how can she trust him? Marcus officially terminates David from the Sync program. Stripped of his place, David is cast out — with only one move left.
Episode 7
Dismissed as a "trader and loser," David is done begging. When the fleet calls for a volunteer to fly into the Mothership and destroy it from the inside, he steps forward — a one-in-a-million mission with almost no chance of return.
He tells Harry the truth: he and Yara are divorcing, and he can't keep his promise to protect her anymore. Harry, who always saw Yara's faults, answers that one day she'll regret letting him go. David signs the divorce papers she never bothered to read. "From this day forward, I will never be yours."
Episode 8
With David's departure looming, Marcus keeps poisoning the well. He feeds Yara a story that David has been badmouthing her to other pilots — claiming she could never hit a target and that he carried her rank all along.
Predictably, she believes it. When Marcus stages another "accident," Yara rounds on David for hurting him and talking behind her back. He denies both, but she's past listening. "I'll be out of your way soon enough — for good," he tells her. She hears a threat. He means a farewell.
Episode 9
Four days left. On the bridge where David once proposed, Yara arrives for a date with Marcus — and David is there too, unable to look away.
She calls him obsessive and clingy, and delivers the cruelest cut of all: she only married him because married pilots Sync higher, and it was good for her score. Marcus kisses her in front of him, smug and victorious. David walks away without a fight, counting down the days. Whatever he still feels, he's decided to spend his last ones quietly.
Episode 10
At the infirmary, David's broken arm finally gets attention — he's been walking around with it for days. The doctor is horrified; Yara just tells them to schedule it, more worried about Marcus's "pain" than her husband's untreated fracture.
A softer thread surfaces: a father brings his young daughter, Clara, to work — she lost her mother in the war. David gives the girl his pilot's flight pin and a promise: the Mothership won't win, and her father won't cry again. Then Yara calls for help, and David already knows who she'll choose.
