Story Guide
Episode 1
Lily Hollis has everything to celebrate: she's the top science scorer in the province, and her family has booked a private room at Yujingxuan to mark it. Then Susan walks in uninvited, sneering that a bunch of "poor bumpkins" don't belong in a place like this. She claims the room is hers, orders Manager Xiao to throw everyone out, and insists the whole hotel belongs to her father's company.
When Lily produces her mother's booking and payment records, Susan only gets bolder — then a priceless vase shatters. The celebration is over before it began.
Episode 2
The broken vase is a Qianlong piece worth one million yuan, and Susan wastes no time pinning it on Lily. Guests and staff back her story; Manager Xiao calls the police, threatening that a criminal record will cost Lily her spot at any top university.
Susan taunts that Lily's family is too poor to ever repay it. But a phone call reveals the truth: Victoria, Lily's mother, finished chemotherapy early and is on her way back. Learning her daughter is being framed, she orders the staff held in place — she'll be there in five minutes.
Episode 3
Victoria arrives looking far too wealthy for the "poor" family Susan mocked, and immediately demands the surveillance footage. If Lily broke the vase, she'll pay ten times over — if not, someone will answer for the lie. Manager Xiao claims the cameras are broken, but Victoria points out this room has three independent cameras. How would she know that?
Susan then waves a black membership card said to be the only one in the world — and claims it came from Chenxing Group's chairman, Lu Mingyuan. Victoria already has that card.
Episode 4
Victoria insists Lu Mingyuan would never betray her — she gave him 45% of her family's company and made him chairman. Yet Susan keeps calling him "Dad," and a phone call seems to confirm it. Victoria tells Zhang Chao, the general manager she personally appointed, to come to the room within five minutes.
Susan and her companion scoff, betting no one will come. Then Zhang Chao walks in — and Susan vows to swallow the broken porcelain if he actually showed up for these "beggars." He did. But does he still recognize the woman who put him there?
Episode 5
Zhang Chao doesn't recognize Victoria — her years abroad for treatment changed her — so she stays quiet, testing whether he's become as corrupt as Manager Xiao. When he orders the footage pulled, Xiao warns him not to offend "the chairman's daughter."
Zhang Chao refuses to bend, and the surveillance proves Susan smashed the vase herself. He fires Xiao and demands Susan apologize and pay the million, or face a lawsuit in Chenxing Group's name. Susan calls her father, threatening Zhang Chao's job — but Victoria is watching closely, and the betrayal is starting to surface.
Episode 6
Lu Mingyuan's voice comes through the phone, firing Zhang Chao on the spot and handing everything to Manager Xiao — proof, to Victoria, that her husband really has been hiding another family.
Susan presses her advantage, ordering the police to arrest Lily. When Lily's classmates vow to testify against Susan, Susan calmly recites one student's name, her parents' cement shop on Renmin Road, and counts down from three. The shop is smashed, the girl's mother injured. Now the students are told to reconsider what they saw.
Episode 7
Backed into a corner, Lily's classmate can't risk her parents again, so Lily agrees to pay. Then Zhang Chao steps in, refusing to let it end this way — even after being fired, he says he's still general manager until the paperwork is done, and he quotes the former chairwoman's rule: treat everyone equally, high or low.
Susan is furious, calling him a watchdog her father paid for and ordering him thrown out. But someone stops her, and the room goes quiet.
Episode 8
Victoria finally declares herself: she is the one who appointed Zhang Chao, and no one gets to humiliate him. Susan sneers that Chenxing has only one chairman — Lu Mingyuan.
The insults turn physical, and the room erupts as staff hesitate over whose orders to follow. Susan calls her father, wailing that people dared to hit her and her mother, and that Zhang Chao took the other side. Then Lily freezes: her father told her he was on a three-day business trip to Shanghai. So who is on the phone?
Watch how far a mother will go when the people who owe her everything turn on her daughter.
